2. Personal Data We Collect and Why
Comments
When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service (Privacy Policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/). Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
User Accounts
For users that register on our website, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
3. Consent Management and Security
Consent Recording (Complianz)
This website uses the Privacy Suite for WordPress by Complianz to collect and record Browser and Device-based Consent. For this functionality, your IP address is anonymized and stored in our database. This service does not process any personally identifiable information and does not share any data with the service provider. For more information, see the Complianz Privacy Statement.
Security (Really Simple Security)
We prioritize the security of our website. Really Simple Security and Really Simple Security add-ons do not process any personal identifiable information, so the GDPR does not apply to these plugins or usage of these plugins on your website. You can find their privacy policy here.
4. Cookies and Third-Party Tracking
Functional Cookies
- Logins: If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. When you log in, we set cookies to save login info (2 days) and screen choices (1 year).
- Comments: If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name and email in cookies for your convenience (lasts 1 year).
- Editing: If you edit an article, a cookie indicating the post ID is saved (expires after 1 day).
Third-Party Services
- Google Analytics: We use this to monitor site traffic. We have enabled IP Anonymization so that your full IP address is not stored by Google.
- Embedded Content (YouTube, Google Maps): Articles on this site may include embedded content. This content behaves as if the visitor has visited the other website directly. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.
5. Data Retention and Sharing
- Retention: Comments are retained indefinitely. User profile data is retained as long as the account exists.
- Password Resets: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
- Spam Detection: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
6. Your Rights Over Your Data
If you have an account or have left comments, you have the right to request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you or request that we erase any personal data. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
To exercise these rights, please contact us at wm@myslitech.com.
